Quote can be seen more clearly in a photograph below.  I have used a range of products from the Zeus and Zoe Etsy Store, and the wonderful kit Marivic put together for the Design Team.....and of course the wonderful sponsors this month Couture Creations, and May Arts

The background was embossed using the Extra Flint embossing folder by Couture Creations.  Leaves, twine, lace, fancy braid are beautiful products from May Arts.

The challenge this month has some fabulous prizes from the sponsors, there is still a couple of days to enter.  All details for the May challenge can be found 'HERE'.....hope to see some wonderful entries, inspired off Riikka's beautiful Mood Board.

Layout and Card

Hello Everyone

Happy Friday! I am sure that you are looking forward to the weekend, as much as I am! Roll on weekend!

I hope you have been checking all the wonderful projects for May. There has really been some super inspiration from the DT.

Denise here today, I have a page and a card to share with you. Let's start with my layout.

This page is about me and only "Denise".  This is not about me the mother of Joe, or the wife to Johann, this is just about me! Sometimes I have to remind myself that there is a Denise and not just a mother and wife, and that Denise needs to exist also. So this page is to remind me to care for myself too, because if I don't nurture myself, then I will almost certainly just fade away! Do you sometimes feel like that too?

I used the beautiful trim from May Arts, it really is so versatile.

I really experimented with my background and first applied a thin layer of gesso. Then I stuck down some of the wonderful oldsie pages from the Zeus and Zoe kit, and then spritzed with 3 different colours over it. On top of that I threw course salt and allowed it all to dry.  Once dry, I removed all the salt and was left with a wonderful palette to work with. Maybe give this a try sometime...

For my second little project, I created a card using Couture Creations.

I used an embossing folder as well as a diecut. Here is a close-up for good measure.

Thanks for joining me today and don't forget to enter the May Challenge for your chance to win prizes from May Arts and Couture Creations!

Have a great Friday and weekend!!

Embossed alcohol ink card by Yvonne Yam

Hi there friends! It's Yvonne here to share my project with yummy stuff from our sponsors Couture Creations and May Arts.

I embossed a soda can aluminium panel with a Couture Creations embossing folder and applied alcohol inks on it. A window chipboard was glued to text patterned paper, a Manor House bloom was misted with glimmermist and adorned with a gold button...all from the Zeus and Zoe store. A pretty May Arts trim completed the card.

Janel's Make-up Bag

Hello!!! I’m Janel from NellieBellie and I am so pleased to be here again! Today I want to share with you this quick way to make a fabulous make-up bag with Mod Podge, fabric, and fabulous trimmings from Zeus and Zoe!

makeup-bag2

This cute bag started out as a plain, boring makeup bag that came with some samples I had gotten. I have a mess of these basic little make-up bags. When I was gathering them to toss out I paused and realized…these can be turned into something great! So, after Mod Podging some fabulous zebra shirt fabric patches onto the plain ol’ bag I added some fabulous lace and velvet trim from Zeus and Zoe and beautiful turquoise feathers to give the bag some additional jazz and fun. Now this plain, generic make-up bag is something to show off and be proud of. Best part is you can personalize the fabric and trim to your personal taste. The mood board for May was feminine, pink, lacy, and full of girl appeal. This DIY Makeup bag is feminine, pink, lacy, and full of girl appeal…score! You all have a great day…I’m off to fill my new make-up bag with goodies!

File Storage Box

Hello!!  Are you all enjoying all of the fabulous May projects?!  I know I certainly am and now it's my turn to share my 2nd project of the month featuring the wonderful products from our sponsors, May Arts. and Couture Creations.

I really needed something pretty to put my sketch books and art journals in so I created this beautiful file storage box.

I started out with a nice sturdy boutique bag that I'd been saving forever.  It already had the beautiful purple chevrons on the inside.  All I had to do was cut it down to the height I needed using a box cutter and t-square.

To give the box some added strength, I adhered wooden album covers to the front and back of the bag.  The mini album and 7 Dots Studio paper both came in my Zeus and Zoe kit.

The beautiful ribbon I used to trim around the entire box is from May Arts.   I actually used the backside of the ribbon because the front was a little to bright for my design.  So keep that in mind when you're using your ribbons; you're not limited to just the front of the ribbon and you could even tint it to match your project.

I accented the front of my box with Couture Creations dies: Key To My Heart - embossed with CC Great Almazo 5x7 embossing folder, Magical Butterfly, Hanging Sign and Aladdins Key.

The Couture Creations hanging sign is the perfect spot to label the file box.

I added clusters of looped May Arts ribbon around the beautiful Manor Creations flower and the burlap flower I made.

Thanks for joining me today and don't forget to enter the May Challenge for your chance to win prizes from May Arts and Couture Creations!

Have a Wonderful Day!!

This little key was cut with a Couture Creations die that is part of the fabulous Endless Dreams line.

Ribbon Flower Tutorial

Hello everyone! Riikka here today with my second project for May. Today I want to share with you an easy ribbon flower tutorial together with two projects I made using the ready flower. Materials are from my Zeus and Zoe kit

First of all, cut three identical pieces of a ribbon. I used a beautiful lace and velvet ribbon by May Arts

The lenght of the ribbon depends on what you want to do - for the brooch I cut about 11" pieces but an little embellishment for the card only need something like 2½ to 3" of ribbon. The lenght is roughly twice the size of the flower. Wrap the pieces into figure eights and attach with a few stitches. You can use hot glue, too, if you want.

Then stack all the loops on top of each other so that they form a flower. Attach with a few stiches. Now the base is ready!

Then comes the fun part - adding some layers and embellishments! I used a crocheted doily and some metal flowers to mine together with a beautiful button and a piece of jewellery. All these were from my kit.

You can either leave the flower like this or add a few pieces of ribbon at the back like I did.

Here's the finished piece. I added two ribbons at the back togerher with a safety pin and thus created my very own brooch. This would make a great little gift or an embellishment on top of a gift.

Like I said, the same tutorial can be used also in a smaller scale to create embellishments for cards or scrapbooking pages. Underneath is a card to which I made a small lace flower. The shape is the same, only smaller. You can even do one to this months challenge - the mood board had a few different ribbons on it!

I Love Thee - Layout - May Challenge

Hi Everyone,  the new Zeus and Zoe challenge for May is inspired by a beautiful mood board that Riikka has created.  You can find all details in an earlier post, by clicking 'HERE'.

My inspiration this month comes from the contents of the mood board, and I had a lot of fun in combining my Zeus and Zoe kit contents, with the sponsor items.

Our sponsors this month are Couture Creations, and May Arts.  It was fabulous using such beautiful products - the beautiful lace die above and below on my layout is from Couture Creations.  I also used lace which I dyed with Shadow Mists, and leaves from  May Arts. The leaves I actually painted, and then inked to get that earthy appearance which teamed nicely with the colour hues already used.
There is a fabulous prize this month, consisting of 20 yards of  May Arts ribbons, lace, trims.
and.....a random prize (below) of a gorgeous die, and embossing folder pack from Couture Creations

The photograph I scrapped for this layout is of my Mum, with my Grandfather, and my Aunts Helen, Janet and Diane.  I am unsure who the blonde lady is and must ask my Mum!
I loved the words below and thought it would be nice to incorporate as a tile.
The old doily, key, papers, ornate yellow jewel piece and flowers are from my Zeus and Zoe kit - Marivic puts together the most amazing kits, and even custom makes them for her customers.  You can find the Zeus and Zoe Etsy Shop 'HERE'.
I will be back later in the month with another creation to show....
